HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
May all good things come to you and your beloveds in 2009.
I have written over 80 books for K-YA. Many are titles in my middle grade series: American Diaries, Survival, and Hoofbeats. The Unicorn's Secret and The Faeries' Promise series are for young readers. ((excerpts are up on http://www.kathleenduey.com)) Dark, atypical fantasy for teens and adults is my new love. My first YA novel,Skin Hunger, was a 2007 National Book Award finalist. Sacred Scars was released in 2009. The third book in the trilogy is finished and in the production process now.

Kathleen,
We have not been in touch!

Happy New Year! I look forward to reading Sacred Scars this summer.
Hello, Katie!
I tried to warn you...it's hard for me to be a good correspondent. I am working long hours on a copyedit--it's 470 pages and they need it back ASAP. Did you have a question to ask me? You can write it here and I will answer as soon as I can...
Happy New Year!!
k
Beverly,
Thanks so much for writing. I am doing the copyedits now. I feel like I live in Limori...
all best wishes for your own books!

At the Borders bookstore website, I saw the Hoofbeats book, "Margret and Flynn." Are you going to write more books for "Lily and Silence" and "Margret and Flynn"?
Katie
Katie...
I am sorry to say the Hoofbeats series is ending. I *loved* writing the books. There are two sets of four books:Katie and the Mustang (thanks for lending me your name?!);and Lara and the Grey Mare (set in medieval Ireland). Then I wrote two single titles, Margret and Flynn (my favorite) and Silence and Lilly.
I will miss writing horse stories, but for now, I will be focusing on other projects. Today I am beginning work on The Faeries Promise, a 4-book paraquel (a story in the same place and time as) The Unicorn's Secret.
I am so pleased that you like my books, Katie. I hope your own writing is going well.

Kathleen,
I loved all your books, and I hope to follow in your footsteps as a successful writer...

Katie,
You are getting a great start by reading so much. You learn a lot about writing by reading. I was your age when I started writing short stories. It takes a long time to get good at it, but if you love writing, it doesn't feel like hard work. It feels like *fun* work.
